Actually science long ago confirmed this. I read an article years ago, perhaps 20, regarding the unreliability of eyewitness testimony. This article was not discussing the well recognized fallibility of humans facial recognition skills. It discussed the process of remembering within the brain. At the time it had been thought that a memory is imprinted and when one recalls it one is simply viewing that imprint. The article said that is not the case. Everytime a memory is recalled it is literally recalled out of storage and placed in a spot from which the the conscious can then discuss it, and then its filed away again, but everytime this happens, like minor mutations during DNA replication, something is changed, the memory is never the same…et seq
