All I see AI doing is making people lazy and fake--I refer to the infection of people, if they even are people, writing comments that are so obviously written by AI and then when I call them out on it somewhat subtly, they totally miss that I'm onto them. I wrote a single tanka about technology a couple of years ago: "Does technology serve humanity by promoting the lazy acquisition of attachments versus our wellbeing?" That is how "writers" are using AI on Medium.

Then there are jerks like Elon Musk making statements like this: “You wouldn’t need to talk,” Musk said, adding: “We could still do it for sentimental reasons.” He went on: “You would be able to communicate very quickly and with far more precision … I’m not sure what would happen to language. In a situation like this it would kind of be like The Matrix. You wanna speak in a different language? No problem, just download the program."

70s TV shows. I had that quote in my story https://medium.com/new-earth-consciousness/lets-play-match-game-76-what-elon-musk-says-about-neuralink-is-fill-in-the-blank-6d8df569418c, subtitled "What Elon Musk Says About Neuralink is _________[fill in the blank]"

I wrote: "One should always ask what purpose a technology serves. Using this tech to treat brain injuries and disorders serves a tremendous purpose and Musk should be lauded — as we get more and more technologically advanced, I hope inventors prove how smart one is as much by what one does not design — design for the betterment of humanity — not to make us less human.

With respect to Musk's comments on the Matrix, I say no fucking way! Besides exposing one’s mind, or many minds, or an entire population to hacking and outside control (see Dr. Who episode entitled “The Bells of St. John), downloading an ability is not learning. We Humans love to learn. That use would be dehumanizing."

"Here’s my philosophy of modern science. Broadly stated, I think too many scientists waste time and money on matters that are undiscoverable and or have no practical impact on improving life; too many resources are used to develop technology that is used so we can acquire things easier and faster, but those things don’t actually contribute to contentment." That's from my https://marcus17043.medium.com/menage-a-trois-between-science-spirituality-and-philosophy-a634f5446364, subtitled "They should have a permanent and mutually satisfying interdependent polyamorous relationship." You might find it to be an interesting and good read.
