As both someone who lost a friend and survived depression with daily thoughts of suicide that did not become ideations, I started writing about suicide attempt prevention here on Medium in February 2021. A few weeks later, two suicide pieces hit our queue here at Illumination. https://medium.com/illumination/a-matter-of-life-and-death-3723e31e1925 and https://medium.com/illumination/suicidal-930e3604f3a1 Many of our editors wanted to reject the stories being afraid they would be seen by Medium or readers as encouraging suicide, especially the first one I listed. I fought for the stories and worked with the writers to clear up any confusion, including ghost writing the opening paragraphs for each piece. Now we accept suicide pieces all the time as long as they don't glorify suicide and include a message about calling the suicide prevention hotline, which I forgot to add to your story and will go back in and add now. This poem and essay of mine, despite the 17-minute length, is my story that has received the most engagement by each metric. https://medium.com/illumination/dizain-of-suicide-72bcde4dc8d8
