As I see another person commented similiarly, my mainstream media feeds have had much coverage and I read about the regulatory issues yesterday in a guest essay in the NYT's opinion section. Regardless, your systemic points are spot on. I like to connect dots between peoples work here on Medium and elsewhere. Today, inspired by a not nationally covered mass shooting, Jodie Helms wrote of her frustrations here, https://jodieshelm.medium.com/there-was-another-mass-shooting-in-el-paso-tx-67c19f765b49 , which included this message from the spirit entities she channels: "until enough people unite and demand change, this cycle and the tragic results that are part of its effect will continue. The cycle we speak of is not about guns or violence. The cycle is one of acceptance by the masses that they cannot affect change. You have been conditioned to accept what those in power decide and support, whether you agree with it or not. The law of the land should reflect what the majority believes and wants, should it not? Yet, thus far, the majority’s views have been ignored to a great extent. Why? Because they do not suit those in power, who benefit from the status quo, and because the masses tolerate their greed and control."
I left this comment: "As the AAs say, the cycles they talk about have broad application. Gun control, military spending, inadequate regulation of freight train safety, inadequate environmental protection, etc., etc.
The root of much of this and it all being about maintaining power and profit is the perversion of capitalism and how it is used to actually undermine democracy. There is a brilliant writer on this platform, Douglas Giles PHD, a philosophy professor who writes about all types of philosophies in easily understandable and relatable manners. He recently wrote about how capitalism and free enterprise are not the same thing, yet that is what most have been lead to believe. https://medium.com/original-philosophy/capitalism-and-free-enterprise-are-not-the-same-5e61125809bc I highly recommend the read ..."
