At the time I wrote the haiku portion of this post, back in December 2020, I had booked 8 days at an Ayahuasca retreat in Peru. Alas, COVID and other logistics issues intervened, probably because the universe didn't think I was ready, and I've yet to have that experience. When I saw the feature image in an online art catalog, it seemed like a perfect fit for the essay I anticipated writing after the trip, no pun intended, and I contacted the gallery and they contacted the artist and I got his permission to use it.
