Brilliant use of exaggeration to make a point.

The gun's don't kill, people do nonsense, is the epitome of confirmation bias. That's why countries with tough gun restrictions have less muder PER CAPITA than others (try having that discussion in a bar where I live in the Lehigh Valley of PA.) Here in good old young USA, we can't even get reasonable and weak restrictions.

Last week there was an active shooter alert just off Northwestern's campus (where my daughter is) so campus went into lockdown. My ex called all upset. I said this is what you get for voting Trump, et al. I was told I am insensitive--it was in the moment but I didn't reasonably fear for my daughter's safety.

Or did I knee-jerk and not wrongly exaggerate to make a point lost upon deaf ears.

If anyone wants to read how proud I am of my daughter and her being at NW I wrote this back then https://medium.com/illumination/a-fathers-pride-and-joy-6838f4d059e6 subtitle "A rondeau poem inspired by my daughter’s early decision acceptance yesterday into the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University — the nachas tears continue to flow from many eyes"

(oh you live near there so you actually might have heard that story on your local news)(not my daughter, duh, the shooting on Clark Street beach)
