David does write about great topics. As a reader, I wish he would change his narrative tone and write in the first person and trust the reader to get his message through example rather than instruction. Please see my story:
I received a tremendous dose of meaningful engagement from Kristy Lynn:
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Finally! Someone who hates listicles as much as I do!
I have 3 articles mostly written (but not quite finished), from months ago, sitting in my drafts folder about all of what you’ve written here. There is a whole section of Medium devoted to demeaning one’s story (a story that dare to use “I”) — as if humans haven’t learned from storytelling for our entire existence!!! Listicles have only been around for what, one decade?! So shove it! (Is what I want to say to those people.) I have been struggling with this for the whole time I’ve been on Medium. And I dabble in the listicle world since I see/hear/am told that I have to give the reader value and not talk about myself to make an impact and be successful.
But, funny enough, I just wrote in my journal yesterday, “I don’t like writing listicles because I don’t really know if that shit is true for someone else — like, who made me the expert on your life and your body? Right?”
So I am here to say “Thank You!” for having the guts to stand up and say this. You’ve inspired me. I think I will finish at least one of those pieces and publish.
