Especially in a wood frame house. When I first moved here spring 2022 I thought they were in the house but the exterminator said I was probably just hearing squirrels running across the front porch roof or other roofs--then last week I heard something drop onto the floor and I found a cracked open acorn in my bathroom that had fallen through a hole in the ceiling--then a few days later I saw one on the second floor scurry into a radiator pipe whole--so as much as it pained me, as they do damage, I called the exterminator and he did what they do--still hearing them.
