for simplicity of example, I'll just discuss one die, but the same principle applies to dice. If you ask what are the chances of rolling the same number twice in a row, the answer is 1/36. If you ask after a number is rolled what the chance of rolling that number again, the answer is 1/6.

Your lines just made me think of that and a fight/discussion at the dinner table many many years ago, likely between my father and my middle sister (I'm the oldest and only male)
