Great piece.

I recall a conversation/text argument I had with a very dear friend, a woman, ignited by her saying that genders don't exist. The problem was she was talking about the constructs of how society views the characteristics that men and women should or should not display and I was thinking of course biological sexes exist. It took too many texts for us to realize we were not in disagreement but got shunted down a path of not understanding each other's definitions.

Just as you were publishing I was thinking about an essay I will write soon about Hesse's Narcissus and Goldmund and the unfortunately chosen terms divine masculine and divine feminine and then how people use the terms masculine energy and feminine energy to mean different things altogether. A few months ago I was on the phone with a Medium friend and the different ways men and women handle certain matters came up. We were discussing a mutual friend and she said of the situation, trying to help that friend in need, she said advice to a woman in certain situations never works from a man. I said I think I'm a good mix of masculine and feminine. She scoffed at me. I realized much later that we were not using the terms in the same manner.
