Honestly, and speaking only for myself, I do not understand “cannot opt out” — as if she was not given a choice and gave her free will over to the doctors. If I ever get cancer, I will not get treated with chemo or radiation no matter what the doctors say. I firmly believe that date of death is one of the only two immutable aspects of every soul contract. I will try to heal myself holistically rather than try to poison the cancer while I poison the rest of my body. It's a personal decision and I am not casting any dispersion on the choices that others have made or will make. I had decided this a while back and this piece that I read the other day https://medium.com/grab-a-slice/returning-to-the-scene-of-the-joy-e9f664cdc056 cemented it for me, as among the several writers here that I respect a lot, including you, White Feather is #1 in my book (I'm in the process of reading through his entire index and compiling two lists for the benefit of myself and others https://medium.com/@marcus17043/list/white-feathers-greatest-hits-8ccbd7c6beb6 https://medium.com/@marcus17043/list/white-feathers-fiction-hits-5c586249c331 ).
