I started with haiku back in December, got bored with it and the limitations of 17 syllables, and then discovered tanka and how much more meaning I could convey with those 2 extra 7 syllable lines. Then when I noticed Diana's 30 in 30 poetry challenge, I was intrigued by the great prompts and took up the challenge and doubly challenged myself to do it in all tanka. I didn't keep strictly to the one poem a day aspect. Then sometime before I finished I discovered that it had propelled me to Top writer in Poetry status. I was shocked. Not only had it not been a goal, it wasn't even on my radar.
