I appreciate this essay and I love the song and many others by Bowie. I feel compelled to point out that intovert/extrovert is a spectrum, not a binary, and some, even those not ambiverts, are dualistic along the spectrum. I choose to describe myself as a not shy introvert but even that is me giving into labels.
