I believe that they (Jesus, Buddha, Lao Tsu, et al) each incarnated with the knowledge intact. Their souls came as special messengers and retained their universal knowledge, which for 99.99999% of souls, is parked away some place not to be restored until returning home and completing an exhaustive analysis of what they experienced in each lifetime.
