I believe the Dems need to do more than make it a referendum on Trump and the ultra conservative agenda that many might not believe would be installed. They need to stop fighting fear with more fear. At the end of the story I include a gift link to a recent New York Times column by David Brooks that I found compelling. His concluding paragraph is:

“In Milwaukee [RNC convention], I have heard a lot of patriotism, but it was the patriotism of nostalgia, not the patriotism of hope. That leaves an opening for the folks who gather in Chicago next month [for the DNC convention].”
