I completely disagree. You are the only audience that really matters. To exaggerate to make a point, otherwise you're just a fucking conformist, which I sense you are not. If The Beatles wrote for an audience, we'd never have Revolver, Sgt Pepper, Strawberry Fields or Penny Lane (as those were incredulously the A and B sided of a 45 I had to mention separately) or anything that came after. Have you seen the Get Back documentary? Watching their creative juices flow epitomizes the fallacy of writing for an audience. They went into the studio for that purpose and instead pure genius that will withstand time emerged. I'm fucking crying now at how I just tied this all together...
