I feel that this one has been a long time coming.
Two quotes, one verified and one of shakey authenticity, but I don't care because it speaks to me.
1) “Friends are God’s way of apologizing to us for our families”― Tennessee Williams
2) Many know the quote "blood is thicker than water." Some have theorized that's a misquote that changed the context of this unverified line: “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.”
With those in mind, I wrote these first three lines of a tanka back in April 2021 to the prompt "delving into the watery realms of emotions":
Blood or water bonds
Bleed with friends from family
Blood clots water flows
