I find this happens when I write my decoders--sometimes they take on a life of their own that goes beyond the words of the tanka. I do see one tanka I wrote where upon reading it several times after publishing I see layers of meaning that I'm sure my subconscious intended of which my conscious did not see at the time I wrote it. I will have to write a separate story about that. That tanka did not end up in KTHT because Diana understandably thought it too outwardly sexual. I offered to change the title from "Dear Connie Lingus" to something less overtly erotic. Diana did suggest that I post the story in Slack. I cannot tell if anyone read it from there.
French kissing nerves rich
Listen for responsiveness
She holds my head’s place
Contractions grasp my finger(s)
Ecstatic expansion nears
Take the third line for example. Literally, my lover's hands are holding my head in place. Figuratively, my lover has a hold on my thoughts--she is occupying a place in my mind.
