I generally do not read books written by gurus or messengers and the like. Still, ten years ago I did read his book Conversations with God, An Uncommon Dialogue, Book One, and have often referred to it in my essays as an early paving stone in my yellow brick road (https://medium.com/p/ae079ff2f900)(in his books he relates actual channeled conversations with God and I do believe that the quotes are accurate transcriptions of their conversations). I don't know if that particular quote is from that book or from one of his others but I highly recommend the book. You can also just Google to find myriad quotes of his on the Goodreads site and elsewhere. The one I most often cite is “Religion cannot stand Spirituality. It cannot abide it. For Spirituality may bring you to a different conclusion than a particular religion — and this no known religion can tolerate. Religion encourages you to explore the thoughts of others and accept them as your own. Spirituality invites you to toss away the thoughts of others and come up with your own.” (See my essay https://medium.com/illumination-curated/marriage-of-philosophy-and-spirituality-742dc1d639f6 if it pleases you to do so). I also love a quote about the proper way to pray (“The correct prayer is therefore never a prayer of supplication, but a prayer of gratitude. When you thank God in advance for that which you choose to experience in your reality, you, in effect, acknowledge that it is there…in effect. Thankfulness is thus the most powerful statement to God; an affirmation that even before you ask, I have answered. Therefore never supplicate. Appreciate.”) and this quote about relationships (“The purpose of a relationship is not to have another who might complete you, but to have another with whom you might share your completeness.”) which I built off of in this writing prompt / personal essay, https://medium.com/promptly-written/are-you-searching-for-your-other-half-c2b2cb736652
