I grew up very comfortable, which in some ways was a curse. I chose paths to maintain or improve on those material comforts and ended up treading water until I drowned. Just 18 months ago did I have the epiphany that choosing a career to support a lifestyle is ass-backwards. One should choose the career that fits whom one is at their core, and then choose a lifestyle that such career can support. This is what I have told my kids. Will they listen? Way too soon to know.
