I had brain surgery in January and February 2019. I wasn't remotely scared once I made the decision. We all react differently. Years before I could have had it and decided it wasn't worth the risk. When I decided to have it, there was no fear of death.
Re the lines I highlighted here, my recent sonnet https://medium.com/write-under-the-moon/if-william-shakespeare-were-alive-today-872174b34521 includes:
Anticipation builds can’t wait for play
Perennial as tulip bulbs it springs
Nothing compares to this, the year’s best day
Of its taste in the air, songbirds do sing
