I had to absorb this one a few times and then I saw the convergence with my thoughts lately of the symbiosis between mind, body and soul in the Earth realm--all three parts need the whole to survive. The soul needs the ego for protection from the dark energy in this dimension we inhabit (not used in the cosmological sense sense of the term).
