I have always opposed the death penalty for the simple reason that our justice system is too imperfect to use an irreversible sentence. A criminal justice system should be based on getting to the truth, not an adversarial system where the deck is, despite the guilty that do get found not guilty, stacked heavily in favor of the prosecution.
