I have never looked at these lists and now I'm convinced I never will. Besides, I gravitate to books that have been out for years, or decades. I just read and LOVED The Razor's Edge, which I decided to read after reading a story on Medium about the book being his favorite and most influential, and then when I read the jacket description on Amazon I was sold (I bought it used, it was rated good, and it seemed brand new to me--im never buying a new book again). More recent releases I read this year and LOVED came from friend recommendations. A Gentleman in Moscow, which I had bought three years earlier at a brick and mortar Barnes and Noble on a friends recommendation and it sat in my unread pile until I saw they made it into a mini series and I decided to read the book first, and it was so good I never got around to the mini series, and last week on another friends rec I read The 100-Year-Old Man Who Stepped Out the Window and Disappeared
