I think you are conflating nonconformity with antisocial behavior. Please don't do that. I am absolutely a nonconformist. That does not mean I flout the law and don't care about society and community. And you are using an extreme definition of rebel. So many times our conversations become difficult because of the words we choose and what they label. Too many words in English have too many definitions and mean different things to different people. Here, an accurate word exists for what you were arguing against--antisocial is that word and even that has a use that does not apply. I am using it in the context of traits that when summed up can constitute the antisocial personality disorder, as opposed to the other use, shy, or introverted, which are also used as synonyms but are not.

I wrote about the failings of our language when it comes to trying to discuss the difference between emotions and feelings and beliefs and facts recently. You might find it interesting. https://medium.com/@marcus17043/are-you-well-advised-to-follow-your-heart-dea0cbeb214b subtitled "Yes but not until you can discern the difference between feelings (follow) and emotions (process)"

and then based on the comments I followed up with https://medium.com/@marcus17043/of-feelings-and-knowledge-580fed0d092a subtitled "Another poetic attempt at universal epistemology with an acrostic sonnet, how bout them apples of Adam and Eve!!!"

I found it difficult for people to understand what I was saying because they were speaking the language of psychology and some of them the language of trauma and I was combining the language of intuition and metaphysics with the language of biology
