I try not to engage in such exercises at any level of life. At least not in the last few years as I have embraced uncertainty. When a baseball announcer after a home run hit after a caught stealing says with certainty but for the cs that would have been a 2 run homer I cringe. With a runner on base who knows if the pitcher throws the same pitch in the same manner and that the batter puts the same swing on the ball. The other day my son says to me if he had done x, y, and z, he's sure he would have gotten at least an ______ on the SAT. I point out that's a lot of things that didn't happen for you to be sure of a result that didn't happen. Stress may still have hampered you.
