I was about to say essentially what Prasanna said, and I already saw your answer. I recall feeling that you should have told her right away and wondering if you were protecting her feelings (not your job) or were afraid she'd be upset with or blame you even though you were not at fault though you might feel otherwise. Shit happens. Maybe there's more to write about here.
