If anyone has the bandwidth and time to read a 20-minute New York Times column, this piece by Thomas Friedman on Saudi Arabia and Israel is interesting and eye opening. It touches upon much that you and the AAs say. From Tel Aviv to Riyadh https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/06/opinion/israel-saudi-arabia.html?unlocked_article_code=-H21AxFNWlLqcFkdTPuhYNGvbjl6xswDGw009T13c91nOslp2yC9_yxgGKAOfaLLoLkwNvbIHX3Pz8Cwv0oOCHKXOEARXv2MpQCTdRbD2T1A68v27W-5vBLzqpA0xsVSIsc0vwj_N-pLt-Opf7vpKDrWnTlIblsKK690mcrQ693sRYbDatdEM08G53UP6Zgtl19lI0TW3LzsePPakiuxyeMb8sNPm2PeSY-F6qm6CghzhiNUphbZn2VMPl11cPnH3Ie5401sq-L4BasZPRQLOgndsuuI0l_WAHur0XmOg-XGo20W4p19TWPamP7p8r6FmvFh02Z3g-hB-OHxoQ&smid=nytcore-android-share

It is a very balanced article. The way the young and the military in Israel are joining forces to protect democracy is striking. And in Saudi Arabia, while the royal family does not tolerate dissent, they seem keen on holding onto power by instituting reforms to give the people, especially women, less to dissent about.
