I'm glad you didn't respond to Mr. Weis--there's no point in trying to have discussions with such people.

9 years ago, way before I joined Medium, I wrote in an essay: "God is not a singular anthropomorphized individual Supreme Being — my conception of God is the spiritual energy that singularly (souls) and collectively permeates the universe, which, for the most part exists in a dimension not directly perceivable by our human form, but the presence of which is certainly inferable."

I've refined my views much since then.

Like yourself I am not religious yet very much belive in God. https://medium.com/illumination/why-is-it-so-easy-for-people-to-believe-the-most-obvious-lies-yet-require-proof-of-god-339a2a07cc4f The subtitle of that piece is "Conversely, Why Does this Walking BS Detector not Believe 90% of Peoples’ Claims Yet Firmly Believe in Eternal Souls and God(s)?" Part of my answer was "Because I look around at the wonders of the universe and achievements by humans both small and large from which divine influence is inferable..."

My most recent views are discussed in my https://medium.com/know-thyself-heal-thyself/how-do-you-define-god-9898492eae9
