I'm glad you reconsidered. I noticed and only skimmed your departure note when I firt saw it. I had read a wave of departure notes some time ago with similar points and the writers never left and I became jaded to those types of stories as they seemed to be their own form of clickbait and bandwagoning for views.
I have now gone back and read the departure so I could read the comments. I'm glad they impacted you.
I took a long break from Medium last year. From June till late September. I came back for a couple of weeks before disengaging again until coming back with more gusto this year. Upon my September return, regarding the social media aspects of Medium, I wrote in my https://medium.com/@marcus17043/are-you-living-or-merely-existing-614f982432a5
"Hello friends, followers, and subscribers. Some of you have noticed my disengagement from the platform. I became too attached to the social media aspects of Medium and this became a net energy drain and I made a not conscious decision to pull away. You may be wondering, what is a not conscious decision?! Well, I didn’t actively think about choosing that course of action. I found myself having no interest in engaging and much later while pondering my disengagement I concluded that such constituted an unconscious decision. Recently I made the conscious decision to start easing my way back in, being more discerning about the stories I read, trying to read only those that interest me rather than reading out of a misplaced sense of obligation to my Medium community and generally only leaving comments when I have something to add to the conversation."
As for writing here on Medium, I never came here to make money. I write to share my thoughts across many areas and have definitely from time to time felt the frustration of not reaching people but then get assured by some fantastic comments that I am making a difference in some people's lives--and my not incarnated spirit guides have told me this too.
On another note, do you have your tag notices turned on? I ask because in March I read and enjoyed your essay (with a somewhat clickbait title "Spirituality is Trash" but having some familiarity with your other work (I recalled appreciating 1) you dressing down the faker Tolle and 2) your essay on why you believe in God) I suspected you would not be trashing all spirituality)
distinguishing true spirituality from consumerized spirituality, and I cited it and tagged you in my https://medium.com/channspirations/revisiting-karma-and-the-law-of-attraction-997965601b65, in which I note my continued disdain for the popular version of LoA for among other reasons its victim shaming/blaming aspects, but I realized upon reading a great thought on karma from DL Nemeril,
"Here, we would like to add that we do not agree with karma meaning you have to ‘pay’ for what you did in another lifetime. That is a very human perception, of life being a court system meting out reward and punishment. Karma is a vibrational level that draws the experiences needed for healing and growth to a soul. Nothing more."
that I could state the LoA in terms I agree with:
"the law of attraction describes the vibrational pulls of our soul contracts, not what we humans consciously or subconsciously emit."
