I'm trying to understand what you're portraying here. I don't see in the painting the rich coming down from the big houses to hang out with the peasants, but perhaps you do in your mind? When I read this stanza, my mind went to rich men coming down the hill to have sex with poor women.
Or perhaps you're talking about rich people running for office and going to the poorer neighborhoods for votes?
I get the second stanza saying the rich and famous have no cred in the tenement.
Is the soup kitchen stanza about charities or supposedly charitable foundations and how much money is wasted on salaries and admin?
