In 2013 I wrote these words about my father:

"My father is emotionally detached from the world. He imperiously lives in his own construct of the world and everyone else, including his children, are but chess pieces in his game of life.”

It took me another 7 years to realize that his emotional detachment was an act. That he's actually a covert narcissist.
