Loved this poem, Carolyn. I highlighted many lines and could have highlighted more. With respect to these lines here, I often enjoy writing poems that combine forms. Like this one that's starts with a full rondeau and ends with a full sonnet https://medium.com/living-out-loud/why-should-i-come-back-625b199f083c This next one https://medium.com/channspirations/lifes-contradictions-and-paradoxes-8c99c537a3c0 starts with three tanka stanzas and then flows into free verse and that portion also employes a senryu and a couplet. Free verse is pretty new for me. I think I finally started to understand it when I read your recent poem https://medium.com/channspirations/death-knocked-hard-4198fafc72e in Claire's, Anthi's and my pub that made reference to T.S. Eliot's The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock and then I googled more about the form.
