My friend believed, no, rationalized, as many do, that his kids would be better off--Dr. Harris Stratyner, PhD, told me that studies show that children of suicides are 50% more likely to attempt suicide as adults than others. These stats can be misunderstood, so let me clarify. It means if, just for example and easy math, 5% of adults will generally attempt suicide, 7.5% of adult children of suicides will. Those figures are made up just to show the math.
