Not sure this is the right word. I thought it meant to lie, but it seems to mean to be evasive, which is sort of lying. I think you are trying to say you're not sure why you couch your positions with platitude like statements. It drives me nuts when I see writers say things like "it's just my opinion," or "I could be wrong..." Is that what you meant by prevaricate?
