So, I now hopefully reply to both your reply and initial comment to the story thoughtfully.

I perceive a misconception about what is and what is not physical when it comes to addiction. You preceive sex as physical and love as not but the fact is and what GT was pointing out is that both create a response in tje portion of the brain known as the amygdala.

Moreover, you perceive a physical reaction from drugs that you equate with sex but not love. Again, false--the reaction on the brain is the same and it affects the same center of the brain.

Heroin and alcohol are perceived as physical/chemical addictions because deprival of each can cause deadly withdrawal but other drugs like cocaine and extasy are considered only to have emotional connections because the withdrawal is not physical.

You ask about love addiction rehab success rates. Now, that is a loaded question. What many people do not realize is that the success rates of all 12 step programs are abysmal. https://medium.com/recovery-cultures/drilling-down-to-the-root-cause-of-addiction-7c57c5a3fd6c

To cut to the chase now that I am sure that i am running out of characters, is all addictions, drugs, alchohol. love, sex, gambling, work, etc., all affect the brain in exactly the same way and all have the same root cause.
