I had been writing them lomg before the challenge, which is not specifically for tanka--just poetry generally, but I challenged myself to do each as tanka and I feel it has really helped me hone the artskill. Plus they double as short form uninhibited by length as I use the decoder rings to feature the work of others and breathe new life into my own work.
