I wonder what would be the reaction if it became widely understood that the abstinence requirement is not mentioned anywhere is the Big Book or the 12 and 12. I had my own issues with that aspect of the program as you did but was shocked when it was pinted out to me that it is nowhere to be found in the "sacred texts."
