That God does not interfere in human affairs does not make God unmerciful. As God loves each and everyone one of its creations unconditionally, it can't interfere. Creator neither rewards nor punished. The contrary would imply favoritism and be inconsistent with unconditional love. I understand that what I just said runs contrary to many religious concepts of God and good vs evil.
