That makes assumptions about the distribution algo, that I think are false. The algo is designed not to distribute anyone and the new boost function is a carrot for writers to chase. I have 1800 followers (irrelevant) and over 60 subscribers. Most of my subscribers don't receive the emails and when I tag a writer that I have linked, because I do that, I'm a bridge builder, they also don't get a notice. Why? Medium does not want to pay MPP. Same reason it fools people with social media sharing. I don't really care. I get it's a business. I spoke to a writer today who notes the quality of writing sucks. She wished as a reader that writing faced real editing. However, then Medium would be a magazine rejecting most articles. I'm cool with the present model. I just wish writers understood it and as long as Medium gets subscribers the pyramid won't collapse.
