The abortion debate doesn't fit neatly onto a spectrum description for other reasons. The "right" seized upon it to build their coalition. Those that truly oppose abortion (as opposed to those that oppose it for political power) due so on their belief as to when life begins. This is a matter of religion/spirituality and it is a minority view that the right has adopted to bring more voters into their tent who might otherwise not vote. I happen to believe that life begins at conception but I am 100% pro-choice. Roe v Wade should have been decided under the First Amendment, instead of inventing a right to privacy that does not exist in the federal constitution (it does explicitly exist in some state constitutions), and the same shaky constitutional grounds endangers the LGBTQ+ rights that have also been grouned on privacy, and would stand on much firmer ground under the First Amendment's prohibition of the establishment of religion. This is my essay on that: https://medium.com/p/4d234daa2e71
