The context of that phrase "burning desires" is that it is used in various addiction recovery circles to mean an unhealthy desire (so yes there are different types of desires)(which is also where most people learn the serenity prayer)--a desire to use the substance or engage in the behavior one is seeking to avoid. Plus, recovery programs preach that one lacks any power of will over that which they do abusively, so I was bringing the 2nd aspect of willpower as discussed by Epictetus back into the equation.
