The two most indelible moments for me are waking up next to my wife just after 8am flipping on The Today Show as was our routine and seeing one of the towers smoking and Matt Lauer saying a plane had hit but they didn't say it was an airline plane and I turned to Liz and I said this is a terrorist attack and then a few minutes later we saw the second plane streak into the other tower

After an extended time viewing I headed off to to the office and while walking down Lexington Ave in the low 60s, in other words many miles north of the towers, I noticed the sky had just darkened. It wasn't till I got to my office about 15 minutes later and flipped on my computer that I realized I had noticed the debris cloud of the first tower coming down.
