This one has been a long time coming my friend. The comments/reception will be interesting.
This comment is long because it connects dots with a Graham Pemberton essay I read recently, the work of others, other AA messages of yours, and one of my poems. I don't know where to start. I'll start with last night. I read Graham Pemberton’s latest in his series where he looks at various translations of Genesis and tries to come back to some original meaning. He points out that Elohim, one of the Hebrew words for "God" is a plural version of the word.
I raised Gavin Sher's brilliant essay, https://medium.com/interfaith-now/god-a-most-misunderstood-word-7b99d4491263
in which Gavin writes:
"In Judaism, the progenitor of monotheism, there are 72 names for ‘God’, each referring to some aspect of the Divine, yet in day to day practice the Divine is referred to simply as Hashem, ‘The Name’, precisely because it is considered better to leave undefined a concept that is too expansive to fit into a single word. Outside of the religion itself, I have seldom seen anyone adequately explain the Jewish concept of ‘God’. Most folk seem to think Jews believe in some vengeful ‘God’ named Jehova, or Yahweh, but that is not the case. The same understanding of ‘God’ that is found in Judaism, properly understood, can also be found within streams of all the major religions, including Hinduism and Buddhism, which typically aren’t considered monotheistic."
Gavin's essay resonated with me the first time I read it and I have cited it countless times. First, as an inspiration for this tanka poem I wrote over two years ago in response to Diana C's poetry prompt, “ancient and eternal connection with Gaia.”
Baruch Hashem, Salaam Alaikum, Et Al
Tanka of all gods and goddesses are avatars of the Great All are the title and subtitle of the poem https://medium.com/p/d6ee7fc7aaec
which contains a couple of interesting cites beyond Gavin's. Here's the poem:
"Gods and Goddesses
Earth Air Fire and Water
Elementary
Ancestral soul connections
Defy labeled constructions"
I feel a lot of my poem is reflected in the AAs message today.
In my discussion with Graham I cited and quoted your piece from the AAs https://jodieshelm.medium.com/the-one-true-religion-79c258caf93d
I wrote: "I respect what you are doing with all your series. Yet, I'm not sure I see the point. You seem to feel that you can strip the bible back to some originally written absolute truth, which does not exist because even a first writing was written by humans and thus cannot be correct. As Jodie Helm transcribed her channeled spirits aka archangels:
'All religions are both right and wrong in the beliefs to which they adhere. They are as imperfect as the people who established them, which is to be expected. Whether religions began with good or less than good intentions, they are limited to the knowledge available, which is never complete. There are parts of nearly all religions that have been included and announced as “God’s will” that were designed to uphold the laws accepted by society at the time they were formed, edited, and stamped with man’s approval, even as they were credited to the Creator. Some religious laws presented as God’s word do indeed represent some things truly, while other parts were specifically designed to control and manipulate the people and are not of God.
We do not say all of these were devised with impure intent, although some were, and no religion is excluded in this. What we will say is religious laws may have been inspired by someone’s idea or interpretation of what the Creator desires, but many of those who designed and edited these laws were rarely in direct contact with God.'"
If anyone wants to follow Graham's and my convo past that point, which included me standing up for Jodie as a legit channel, or read Graham's work, which is interesting, here's a link to the convo and a link to Graham's essay: https://marcus17043.medium.com/from-gavin-shers-https-medium-com-interfaith-now-god-a-most-misunderstood-word-7b99d4491263-a9f8f7b57944 and https://graham-pemberton.medium.com/what-do-the-first-three-chapters-of-genesis-really-mean-part-7-elohim-and-yahweh-a7ac24421c4d
