Unfortunately I think there's a specific Supreme Court decision that shields political speech from existing truth in advertising laws. There is a concept in contract law known as fraudulent inducement. If one party never intended to live up to the bargain, the contract is voidable. No damages but the parties are restored to precontract position. I could see a class action lawsuit having a chance of success on that theory. It would need to be a class action to void enough votes for it to matter. It would need the right judge to get past a motion to dismiss. However, for whom else would the votes have been cast? The one who ran as a Republican, so it would be a phyrric victory but certainly interesting precedent.

You've got a good owner in the Pegula family. I'm a fan of the daughter's tennis game. My pro team allegiances lay downstate.
