Very interesting essay. I don't recall if it was The Illiad or The Odyssey that we read parts of in high school 40 + years ago. If I were to put it in my ever growing to be read pile, is there a particular translation you prefer, noting id be reading without the benefit of class discussion. Perhaps an annotated version.
