I think the echo joke is hilarious, all the more funny is that the one it was told to didn't get it. Perhaps there's a dumb male message there?

I see why the joke is offensive. I also see it as interesting. I had a very forward thinking girlfriend who had no idea that all vaginas come in different shapes and sizes until we had two experiences with other women. I was shocked at what a revelation that was to her.
