While free will reigns supreme, and I understand your perspective on us as scriptwriters, a concept I wholeheartedly agree with, I have a different take on who constitutes us.

Last year I was binge-watching Blue Bloods. After hearing Frank say, “There is no sense in rehearsing for tragedy,” (a la Brene Brown) I promptly turned off the television and started writing this poem. https://medium.com/channspirations/embrace-both-comedy-and-tragedy-and-prepare-only-to-be-unprepared-93daa92b072e Here are the first two of the six stanzas of the rondeau redouble:

There’s no sense in rehearsing tragedy

No purpose found in seeking happiness

Steel yourself for life of dark comedy

For serenity, nakedly undress

Live in moderation without duress

Third eye sees this divine optometry

Upon awakening, soul shall impress

There’s no sense in rehearsing tragedy
