While I understand poetry doesn't speak to you, I recently published https://medium.com/channspirations/on-fear-and-hope-ee60d1c5bb97 The poem was mostly inspired by a Pink Floyd song I heard for the first time that day called Fearless, and preaches the power of hope, and I also noted that I read that evening a David Brooks column and I wrote in my piece: "MAGA stokes fear to get votes. Frankly, so does the Left. This conclusion [from Brooks's column] popped off the screen at me:
In Milwaukee [RNC convention], I have heard a lot of patriotism, but it was the patriotism of nostalgia, not the patriotism of hope. That leaves an opening for the folks who gather in Chicago next month [for the DNC convention].
There's a gift link to Brooks's column in my post
