While in rehab in FL in August and Sept 2012, I started running barefoot on the beach before dawn, with Orion and Venus keeping me company. My therapist said maybe I'd run a marathon one day. I scoffed. I didnt run when I returned home until in April 2014 I started running again. First run was 1.6 miles at about a 10 minute pace. By July I had run 13 miles on my own. In mid September I ran a half marathon race at a 7:46/mile pace (12th out of 94 on the 40-49 age group) and then a few weeks later I duplicated that in a driving rain storm. I then decided that I would run a marathon and I did that March 2015 in Los Angeles (it was during a heatwave--that time was not good but I finished). Then my truncal dystonia (I didn't know yet what I had) started to make running too difficult to continue with it. Except for a few short spurts, this is the first time since I fixed the dystonia that I've started running again (I have done lots of walking). I decided about two weeks ago to start mixing in running with my walks--I didn't like seeing my father's belly in my mirror. I see you haven't read my story about the dystonia.
